Point of difference
You can give your new home character and interest by incorporating recycled hardwood beams from Kauri Warehouse
Including recycled hardwood beams in your new home is like incorporating a little slice of history. Hardwood timber can have a new lease of life, for example, when it is recycled from its original use in old buildings or as telephone poles.
Kauri Warehouse specialises in sourcing hardwood timber beams from demolition sites around New Zealand. The recycled timber is then cut up into lengths suitable for a variety of uses, including interior beams, trusses, floors and joinery, and exterior pergolas and posts.
Kauri Warehouse manager Joe Davy says one of the attractions of these hardwood beams is the authentic character they add to a new home.
"Big, strong-looking, rustic timber beams are very popular in homes such as masonry villas, for the character they bring," he says.
Kauri Warehouse has recently acquired the 90-year-old timber moulding manufacturer Rickman Mouldings, and its new showroom now carries a full range of new pine mouldings in traditional and contemporary styles.
