Good picture quality is vital to the home cinema buff just as a good speaker system is essential to the music enthusiast. In an effort to truly bring cinema into the home, Panasonic took its new PT-AE500 projector out of the design lab and off to Hollywood, says advertising and marketing manager Chris Key.When a film is transferred to DVD a colourist finely tweaks the film master to match the original 35mm film, allowing the viewer to experience the DVD as the director originally intended.Panasonic engineer Tamotsu Akeyama worked with Hollywood colourist David Bernstein to get the PT-AE500 projector looking like the original film master. They worked on three movies with totally different colour characteristics to achieve the perfect balance for the PT-AE500. The film Moulin Rouge' was used for its theatrical colour balance and strong red colours; the film Phone Booth' was used for its leanings towards blue, and the film Life or Something Like It' emphasised the importance of natural skin tones. The PT-AE500 also features Smoothscreen technology for film-like image production. Also new to Panasonic's home cinema range is the SC-HT928 5-DVD changer home cinema system. With a total power output of 800 watts, it pumps out powerful sound and comes with tall-boy front and surround speakers with adjustable stands. The easy-to-use 5 -DVD/CD changer also features a quick-start CD key. A photograph of a media room featuring a Panasonic projector, speakers, sofas, sculptures and wooden flooring.
