Monochromatic tones along with subtle detailing create a clean look for this custom-made kitchen
If you plan to remodel your kitchen, and want a fresh look that still says traditional, a white theme might be the answer. That's the view of kitchen designer Brandy Czach of Dandamudi's, who created the kitchen shown here.
"This is a traditional look, but one that's clean and unfussy," she says. "With white, no matter what else is going on, you'll have a neutral backdrop and a look that won't date easily."
Subway tiles for the backsplash keep the look casual, says Czach, and provide an unobtrusive backdrop to the cabinetry and Calcutta marble countertops. Ornamentation is used sparingly, to maintain the subtle period look. The island has a 2in-thick black walnut top that complements the walnut wood flooring, which is hand-scraped for a lived-in, relaxed feel.
Both the floor and the countertop add visual warmth to the room, says Czach, while the dark gray feature wall completes the look.
Dandamudi's provides a full kitchen service, from planning and design to installation. The company is a distributor for Plain and Fancy, which custom built this cabinetry, and Snaidero, which specializes in Italian-designed contemporary kitchens.
