Whether you are renovating or building a new home, your choice of roofing has a dramatic effect on the look of your home. But, as with any building project, you need to research both new and existing products to ensure you choose the best option for your home.

To provide a terracotta roof tile that is suitable for flatter roofs, Boral recently introduced the new Terracotta Shingle¢, which has a slim, flat profile.

Brett Sargeant, divisional general manager of Boral Roofing, says the new shingle means roof heights can be lowered, providing greater design flexibility for a wide range of architectural styles.

"There are two noticeable design trends that have influenced the design of this tile," Sargeant says. "Rooflines are flattening to meet height restrictions, and there is a demand for more spacious living environments. A flatter roof allows for higher ceilings that follow the roofline, creating more interior space."

Boral's Terracotta Shingle collection comprises six colours, specifically chosen for their strong visual appeal.

"Minimalism is on the wane, with houses becoming warmer and more eclectic," says Sargeant. "The warm, rich beauty of terracotta is in keeping with this trend. It also ensures homes will be in harmony with their surroundings."

Weatherproofing has been taken into consideration in the design of the roof tile. Terracotta Shingles are made to withstand extreme climatic conditions, and are well suited to coastal areas as they are salt-safe and resistant to corrosion.

As with all Boral terracotta roof tiles, the shingles are also low maintenance, and covered by a 50-year warranty.
