As this project proves, it is possible to enjoy the best of both worlds. The new Clive Christian kitchen in antique honey oak was custom designed to preserve the rustic character and charm of a traditional log cabin-style home.Clive Christian designer Heather Hungeling, along with interior designers Melinda Barber and Dan Fitchett of Barber Design Group, introduced a number of special features to provide authenticity. The cabinetry incorporates bead board and turned legs for a casual country look. A farmhouse sink, traditionally styled hearth, barley-twist pilasters, and spindles on wall cabinets add further charm. To ensure the kitchen is also highly functional, there is a large, multi-use island, with a butcher's block at one end, and a lowered counter for baking at the other. The middle area accommodates a prep sink, and casual seating area. This helps give the appearance of a kitchen that could have evolved over time.In true country style, the cooking center makes it easy to cater for family and friends. As well as a standard 30-inch oven, there is a 36-inch wall oven, which is ideal for baking on large, wide cookie sheets.Other appliances are integrated into the cabinetry, in keeping with the country look. The cabinetry features antique brass proprietary Clive Christian handles, which incorporate the company's name and signature lion's head.
