Modern Deco
The Art Deco heritage of this home is recognised in its renovation by interior and exterior designers Yellowfox
A good renovation is likely to recognise and enhance the original architectural style of a home, while still successfully modernising it.
Yellowfox, an Ellerslie-based specialist in interior and exterior design, worked with Future-Proof Building and Registered Master Builder Certified Renovations to renovate a Tomorrow's Showhome in Ellerslie, Auckland.
The design team at Yellowfox incorporated a number of elements from the 1930s, particularly through the colour palette, as the original home featured an Art Deco theme. Yellowfox specified all the finishes for the home, including the kitchen, which was designed and manufactured by BML Builders.
To successfully integrate the kitchen and living space, Bestwood Recon Blackbean timber veneer was used as a feature wall in the lounge, visually elongating a tight space and creating a visual flow through to the kitchen. Bestwood Melamine Arctic White has been incorporated into the design to create a contrast between the woodgrain panels.
To provide the home with the best possible cooking environment, Yellowfox specified the new Fisher & Paykel 76cm-wide pyrolytic oven, which has 10 cooking functions and a self-clean mode, and teamed it with a matching induction cooktop. An eye-catching black metallic splashback, by DecoGlaze, complements the glass on Fisher & Paykel's appliances.
