Mediterranean style
Choosing roof tiles that have been carefully manufactured to appear aged gives a new home a feeling of permanence
The roof of a home has a huge part to play in the home's overall visual impact. Sometimes the look of older roof tiles suit a new home much better than a brand new roof.
Espana Ceramica distributes La Escandella clay roof tiles exclusively, nationwide. The range includes aged tiles that have a weathered look and a texture that can be seen and felt. No two tiles are exactly alike, giving the finished roof a naturally aged appearance. La Escandella tiles are particularly suited to homes with European designs, or modern contemporary designs that have a touch of Mediterranean flair about them.
Manager of Espana Ceramica, Marshall Burrowes, says the tiles are imported directly from Spain but have been tested to meet New Zealand standards.
"These tiles may look old, but they are made in state-of-the-art factories. They interlock and are extremely weatherproof and strong. They are very long-lasting," he says.
Espana Ceramica's range also includes flamed tiles in a rich brown, a fiery red or a mottled combination of the two colours. In addition, the company supplies matching chimneys, decorative ridge ends and end caps.
"We find that many owners want to know that their home has been designed with authentic attention to detail and has an overall look that is full of character. La Escandella products fit these requirements perfectly," says Burrowes.
The Spanish manufacturer La Escandella has quickly become one of the world leaders in the industry and now exports to 45 countries. The company says its extensive ceramic tile manufacturing plants use a completely automated process, which ensures that the highest possible standards are achieved.
In New Zealand, Espana Ceramica provides a complete service the company's own fitting team will make sure that the tiles are installed correctly.
The tiles are suitable for use in a range of climates, from frosty to tropical. La Escandella recently supplied over 5 million tiles for use in The Palm development in Dubai.
Espana Ceramica can supply La Escandella tiles nationwide through a network of roofing companies.
