Rugged can fast turn to unsightly when it comes to cowhide finishes. Increasingly, consumers are seeking out superior-grade leathers that offer many advantages.

Warwick Fabrics Australasia has been supplying quality fabrics to the furnishing industry since 1966 including refined Thomas Maxwell artisan leathers, says managing director Martin Irvine.

"High-end Thomas Maxwell leathers are sourced from countries where climate and farming methods grow larger animals less affected by insects, disease and heat.

"During processing, Thomas Maxwell leathers are tanned and drum dyed right through to ensure full colour permeation. They are then lightly buffed to enhance their surface, or surface colours are added to provide light fastness, scuff resistance and easy maintenance," says Irvine. "To ensure all leathers are of the best possible quality, each hide is specially rolled on cardboard tubes instead of being folded before transport. This process protects the leather from creasing and marking during shipment."

Soft, supple and blemish-free, each leather cowhide is individually stamped with the Thomas Maxwell hallmark to confirm its authenticity.
