Looks that last

Naturally porous materials in and around your home can be protected for years to come

The sandstone paving of this courtyard in sydneys's Point Piper has been treated with Dry-Treats Stain Proof sealer sealer. The sealer protects natural stone, paving and tiles against stains, as well as retarding moss and mildew growth and maintaining the slip resistance of the surface.

With the right treatment, it is easy to keep even the most porous natural stone, paving, brick and tiles looking great for many years, and to make cleaning less of a chore.

Staining is the most common problem affecting such porous materials, but there are other common types of damage, says Gabriel Chapman, global marketing manager for Dry-Treat.

"Water can be harmless but if stone or paving is wet for long enough, moulds and bacteria take hold, and the water can soften and weaken the material. Water also contains mineral salts, which can leave unsightly residues or stains, and even cause major corrosion of pavers and tiles.

"Dry-Treat's invisible impregnating sealers provide many advantages over traditional coating sealers and other impregnating sealers," he says.

The sealers penetrate deeply, and their special water- and oil-repelling molecules bond permanently inside the treated material to create a deep and long-lasting barrier of protection.

The company's flagship Stain-Proof¢ sealer protects natural stone, paving and tiles against stains. It also maintains the slip-resistance of the surface, retards moss and mildew growth and makes the surface easier to clean.

A 15-year warranty is available when Stain-Proof is applied by an accredited applicator, although simple application instructions have made it popular for DIY use as well, says Chapman.

"Dry-Treat's reputation has spread across 35 countries largely by word of mouth, because our sealers really do work," says Chapman. "Today Stain-Proof protects thousands of homes, as well as football stadiums, city malls, famous hotels and monuments, and many public icons, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the new BBC Scotland headquarters. So we are very comfortable backing our products with extraordinary warranties."
