To complete a high-rise office building to the standard required to achieve Green Star ratings calls for top-quality design and construction management.

At 400 George Street, this role was carried out by Thiess, a company with a proven track record in the management and successful delivery of building projects for both the public and private sector.

Operations manager Camillo Masci says his company provides a design and construction service for complex, highly serviced projects.

"Our objective is to add value to a project at all stages including the early concept and design phases. At George Street, we initiated a design change in the roof that resulted in a gain of 300m² in nett lettable area without adding any height to the building and still complied with the original development approval," says Masci.

Thiess provides a full turnkey service, including offering integrated fit-outs for clients and potential tenants. Its team can also design and construct mixed-use developments including retail tenancies, child care facilities and fully fitted food courts. Thiess has been involved with other Green Star building projects, and as a result of its work on 400 George Street, it has won the contract to build another high-rise building in Brisbane's CBD for developer Leighton Properties.
