Peace of mind is everything when it comes to choosing building materials, which is why bricks continue to be a popular option. But choosing this traditional material doesn't mean you have to compromise your architectural preferences quite the opposite in fact.

The houses on these pages illustrate just how much variety can be achieved with bricks from Midland Brick. From a traditional, European villa where textured stone emerges from a plastered brick exterior, to a very contemporary, curved house, the brick exteriors define the architecture.

Midland Brick marketing manager Brent Whalan says the company has an extensive range of brick styles, including larger-than-standard face bricks. This ensures every architectural style can be accommodated.

"While many of our products feature on high-end designer houses, we also provide bricks for lower-cost projects and commercial buildings," Whalan says. "There is literally no limit to the variety of applications."

Midland bricks come in a variety of rough and smooth textures, and in colours that range from off-white to deep browns. As well as solid colours, there are blends, handmade bricks, and bricks designed to enhance contemporary designs.

In addition to their aesthetic value, Midland Brick products offer numerous other benefits. Whalan says the bricks won't fade, rot or warp, and are not susceptible to insect or impact damage, so your home will be looking just as good in 50 years. In addition, there can also be insulation benefits, and of course, maintenance of a brick house is minimal.
