Lockwood Gullwing showhome design customised to suit owners
Contemporary Lockwood Gullwing house in coastal setting features sunroom, double garage, and clerestory windows

Finding the right company to safely entrust with creating your dream home is a major first step for a homebuyer and it's easy to think you might be swayed by a beautiful design only to find later certain elements don't quite fit the bill.
However, with Lockwood Homes, their suite of plans and showhomes is just a starting point, as this customised Lockwood Gullwing reflects.
Oceanside Homes is the respected Tauranga Lockwood franchisee that built the home for a couple retiring from Wellington to a stunning rural property in Tauranga.
The owners fell in love with the Gullwing showhome in Rotorua and wanted this breezy, light-filled design for their own home.
However, they made several tweaks to the design to optimise connection to the land and other small things that just made it feel their own, says Oceanside project manager Se¸ren Antonsen.
"For example, we switched from tilt doors in the sunroom to 4m bifolds that tuck back to create a 7m-wide opening. This allowed for panoramic views of the Mount and Mayor Island.

"The couple also added a north-facing deck and swapped the position of the garage and media room for a better relationship with the greenhouse-like entry and the landscaping."
The Lockwood Gullwing has a master suite with attached office at one end and two guest bedrooms at the other, separated by the main living spaces. The polished concrete floor is kept at a comfortable temperature year round by solar powered in-concrete water heating.
