Taking a proactive approach to commercial fit-outs is a priority for KG Office Design
Undertaking a retail store fit-out isn't just about following a draughtsman's plans. For interior fit-out company KG Office Design, it's also about anticipating a client's needs to provide a solution that works at every level.
Owner Kevin Garratt says it's a business practice the company follows for all its projects, including the recent fit-out of the Body 4 U fitness equipment store in Sylvia Park.
"To provide greater flexibility for display shelving, we opted for Tufwall framing, rather than the traditional steel frame construction," Garratt says. "This framing makes it easier to hang shelving and other displays it is also easier to make changes at a later stage."
Garratt says the company took a proactive approach in other areas as well, adding a disability platform to the right of the reception counter, and lining a paraplegic toilet in ply to make it easier to secure handrails. KG Office Design also ensured the fit-out maximised storage options.
Special features of the Body 4 U fit-out include a suspended ceiling with uplights, above the reception desk, and a frosted-glass wall that partitions the consulting room and office. Columns are faced with 18mm MDF to provide impact resistance.
Garratt says delays in getting access to the project meant the project was completed within a very tight time frame.
