While books and magazines can wow you with the latest appliance design and technology, there is nothing quite like seeing and touching the real thing.

Lifestyle Appliances recently refitted its Parnell showroom to provide even more space to display an extensive range of appliances in contemporary kitchen settings. Director Kathryn Dennerly says the choice of kitchens from leading suppliers, such as Poggenpohl, reflects the high-end appliance collection.

"Lifestyle Appliances specialises in appliances that complement top-of-the-line designer kitchens," she says. "Brands, such as Gaggenau, De Dietrich, Brandt, Liebherr, Asko, Scholtes and GE, all offer high-performance appliances that won't compromise the look of your kitchen."

Dennerly says the store stocks an extensive range of products, so clients can compare appliances and technology, and make an informed choice.

"Our staff are all experienced and trained to make sure your appliance choice will be right for your lifestyle and will complement your kitchen's aesthetics."

Dennerly says being able to see the appliances in a contemporary kitchen setting is invaluable. So, too, is being able to see working demonstrations. Many of the products, including a number of rangehoods, and the Gaggenau steam oven and CombiOven, are fully operational. Other demonstration models are set up to show cooking programmes.

Many of the appliances that are relatively new to the market are rapidly finding favour with homeowners. Dennerly says the Gaggenau steam oven, for example, has many features that make it indispensable in a modern kitchen.

CombiOvens and cooktops, double ovens, warming drawers, and freestanding and built-in coffee machines are also likely to be incorporated into today's designer kitchens.
