Individual perspective
Houses designed specifically to a client's needs are the forte of Graeme Alexander Homes
One way to ensure a client's new home matches their lifestyle is to design and build the house from scratch. Close attention to details at the blueprint stage ensures this custom fit.
In business for twenty years, Graeme Alexander Homes designs every new house or remodel project on an individual basis to ensure a personal touch is the result, says director Graeme Alexander.
"Our clients can become as involved as they like in the process from the initial brief and planning through to the choice of fittings and colours," he says. "The end result is a home that is well constructed, looks good and functions properly."
The owners of the home on these pages agree.
"Recently we bought a bayside property as a weekender," says one owner. "The 1970s house was solidly built and, despite being dated, we liked its position and simplicity. After briefing various architects we began to lose confidence in achieving what we thought was a simple ask to increase the size of the house while retaining its original character.
"From our first meeting, Graeme saw potential to renovate rather than rebuild. By echoing proportions of the preexisting home he created a modern, balanced structure, which extends across the site.
"Aesthetically we loved the concept both inside and out. The angles of the windows and ceilings flow seamlessly from room to room, making it a beautiful space in which to live."
Graeme Alexander Homes also offers design only where supervision of the design is retained when construction is undertaken by other builders.
Graeme Alexander's wife and business partner Anita Alexander runs an ancillary interior design consulting service and has a decor shop in Mt Eliza.
