The clients were looking to make a bold statement, says Gold Coast owner-operator Paul Biggins.

"This kitchen features high-impact Madrid doors in Shannon Oak Gloss and a seamless acrylic main island bench, complemented by an engineered stone table and bar area with an 80mm profile. Bright red accents, a sculptural stainless steel hood and an exciting use of glass and lighting complete the dramatic effect," says Biggins. "There is no wasted space and the kitchen includes a full complement of up-to-the-minute appliances."

All Kitchen Connection designers are up to speed with emerging global trends, including the latest counter surfaces, appliance advances and eco-friendly approaches to kitchen design.

National marketing manager Gail Sullivan says contemporary European designers favour dark gloss cupboards and horizontal styling, with appliances integrated and set side by side.

"Another concept straight out of Europe is the use of neutral colour palettes in doors and benchtops, with highly coloured splashbacks or sections of benchtop adding individuality and flair to the design," says Sullivan.
