Cooking at Visage is designed to be a relaxed affair, with the chef mingling with family and guests in the open-plan kitchen and living areas, and on the barbecue deck alongside.

In the kitchen, the appliances and cabinetry have been positioned so that two people can cook comfortably in the same space. The cabinetry has a sleek, contemporary look, says Norm James of Cabtech Cabinets, the company that custom-made and installed the cabinetry in the properties.

"We used a two-pack paint finish on the kitchen cabinetry, which is a mixture of paint and epoxy resin for durability and high sheen," he says. "We've also used bevelled edge handles, which add to the sleek, modern feel."

Sliding ranch doors lead from the kitchen to the deck, which has a barbecue with a wok burner. The cabinetry here has a waterproof finish, with the same white gloss finish as in the kitchens and bathrooms. The stainless steel barbecue worktop is the same height as the reconstituted stone worktop in the kitchen, to accentuate the indoor-out flow.
