Green rolling paradise

It's well recognised by psychologists and colour experts that we find blues and greens soothing. At Visage, plunge pools in the back yards provide an expanse of blue elsewhere, greenery is used to create a park-like environment with a natural, tropical feel.
Using mature plants helped the development to look established from day one, says Jason McGarry of Eureka Landscapes.
"We've used thousands of shrubs and trees, many of which were large specimens to begin with. This is a densely planted area, with lots of existing mature trees such as eucalyptus," he says.
The sandy coastal soil was enriched with compost and fertilizers before planting, followed by a thick mulch. Plants were chosen for their large strap-like leaves, red and white flowers and for their hardiness most, like the paperbark, are native, so they will thrive in the local climate and soil.
The plants at the front and sides of each property, along with the landscaped and turfed areas, will be maintained on behalf of the owners. Many owners can develop and maintain a garden in their back yards, if they wish.
Hard landscaping was also part of Eureka's brief. The company installed a concrete path or steps leading to the front entrance of each property and stepping stones around the perimeter. Uniform colours and textures were used throughout, to link the development together visually.
The company laid turf in the landscaped areas designed to echo the turf of the golf coursesfairways alongside and installed letter boxes and boundary fences between each property.
