No matter how large our refrigerators and freezers are, they never seem to fit those large, oddly-shaped items we try to cram into them.

Maytag has designed a new refrigerator that will store everything from watermelons and frozen chickens, to pizza and large casseroles.

The Wide-by-Side features a novel zigzag design that offers more width than the traditional side-by-side refrigerator.

Other features include a water filtration system for water and ice, a shelf that can be adjusted at the turn of a handle, large pick-off door bins and tilt-out freezer baskets.

Special temperature-controlled chiller compartments ensure optimum freshness for fruit and vegetables, meat and cheese.

The Wide-by-Side is available in white, black or stainless steel.

Other side-by-side refrigerators in the Maytag range include the Counterdepth, which can be installed flush with the edge of your benchtop.

Maytag refrigerators and laundry appliances are made in the United States. For the past 25 years they have been imported into New Zealand by Mayco Appliances.

Director Simon Gooder says the Maytag brand has earned a reputation in the United States for producing a long-lasting product that seldom breaks down.
