An energy-efficient home has many spin-offs for homeowners as well as the environment. Energy savings and a healthy home are key benefits promoted by Right House, a company established by Meridian Energy to offer custom energy-efficiency solutions for homeowners.

For new homes, Right House targets 60% energy savings, and a consistent temperature range of 18-24°C for 97% of the year without the need to use heating or cooling systems.

Right House was initially involved in the the Lite-House project by providing detailed design advice and analysis on passive solar gains and ventilation requirements. This included extensive computer modeling to maximize energy efficiency performance.

Right House also specified, supplied and installed an integrated energy efficiency solution that provided above-code insulation, a Rinnai solar hot water heating system, a heat pump system for heating and cooling, and an integrated electricity generation system.
