Art in the kitchen
In a project such as this, the design of every detail, large or small, is carefully considered. The overall impression is created as a result of great care being taken at every level.
VitraMax Group, a company that specializes in architectural glass products, was commissioned to produce the sink for the kitchen. Made at the company's Kentucky production facility from two-inch-thick clear glass, the enormous sink took nearly six months to make.
In addition to the immense kitchen sink, Vitramax also created an adjacent 18in-diameter, 10in-deep, drop-in vegetable sink, and a two-inch infinity flat sink for a powder room. Both modern and ancient techniques were used to craft individual pieces of functional glass art.
VitraMax Group produces a variety of architectural and art glass designs, products and services for commercial and residential applications.
Sales and marketing director Liz Davis says the artisans and craftspeople at the company aesthetically and consciously make art with glass.
