For most people, innovation and Venetian blinds parted company after the advent of the 25mm aluminium blind back in the 1980s. However, whilst the window treatments field has continued to evolve and innovate over the past two decades, the humble Venetian has not been left behind.

Nearly 240 years after its invention, the Venetian blind is still a popular choice, proving that good design is enduring design, says Dennis Matthews, New Zealand sales manager for Window Treatments NZ Ltd.

"Window Treatments manufactures Venetian blinds with aluminium head and bottom rails which are very strong and will not rust. Both top and bottom rails are also powder coated for a high-quality finish and extra long life," says Matthews.

"All of the blinds come with extra slats on the bottom in case of any damage, and our wands are plastic-coated steel and will not break."

One popular aspect of Window Treatments NZ Ltd's Venetian blinds is the choice of more than 50 colours to complement any design scheme. Venetian blinds can also be customised to widths up to 3.4m for individual blinds, and with a drop of up to 4m.

Window Treatments NZ Ltd products are sold on a manufacturer-direct basis through a series of nationwide showrooms and consultants. The entire range is produced in the company's Christchurch plant, which also manufactures most of the components used. This means replacement parts are sourced in a timely and cost-effective manner.

These fabrics can reduce energy consumption by up to 33% as they are designed to reflect between 74% and 100% of UV rays, depending upon the colour chosen and composition of each fabric.
