David Reid Homes Karaka Lakes show home
New show home for David Reid Homes
Architectural elements on the show home are defined, not only by shape, but by different materials. The upper level of the house features Scyon Stria cladding from James Hardie.
Brendon Hamill, managing director of the David Reid Homes Counties franchise, says this vertical board complements the box-like forms.
"The verticality provided by the Scyon Stria enhances the sense of height, which is needed to balance the visual mass of the raw concrete wall," he says. "Horizontal boards would not have had the same effect."

Brendon Hamill says David Reid Homes often uses James Hardie building products for its projects, with cladding chosen for its durability, reliability and good looks.
"All James Hardie cladding incorporates a cavity system that lets the house breathe, which is vital to the ultimate comfort and health of the occupants," he says.
Scyon Stria is a wide cladding board with a 15mm horizontal groove that has the classic appeal of decorative render and solid masonry. As an advanced lightweight cement composite, it has a heavy-duty performance and is resistant to fire, shrinking, swelling and rot.
A range of corner finishing details mitred, aluminium or Scyon Axent trim allows a variety of looks to be achieved.
Scyon Stria comes pre-primed and has a simple, speedy installation method, which in turns leads to cost efficiences. The cladding accepts a range of paints and finishes. Here, it is painted in a rich brown colour that complements the raw concrete and sand-toned render on other parts of the house.
