Dark stained cabinetry is juxtaposed with lighter maple
To complement the traditional Tuscan look,a mix of stained alder and paler glazed maple was used for the home's custom cabinetry. Many of the larger cabinets created to look like pieces of antique furniture continue the home's classic theme.
Cabinets for the kitchen, bathrooms and study were manufactured by JMR Cabinets in the company's workshop, with some detailing completed on site, says company president Randy Klein.
"We used mainly select alder for the stained wood, as it has a more formal look than knotty alder, and maple for the glazed wood areas in the kitchen and bathrooms," he says.
JMR Cabinets is a family-owned and -run business, serving Las Vegas and neighboring Utah areas. The company works with architects and homeowners to create high-end cabinetry to their specifications, says Klein.
"The Tuscan look is still very popular, and we're starting to see more contemporary kitchens, with darker wood colors placed alongside lighter cream paintwork," he says.
