A French technique was used to age the painted walls and ceilings
Time-worn colors and patinas are an intrinsicpart of Tuscany's charm. To bring this warmth to a new home, paint finisher Fabrice Charbonneau was commissioned to apply an antique finish to the painted walls and ceilings in this residence. He also designed and hand-painted stencils around the chandelier and other focal points in the house.
"We were aiming for an antique Tuscan look, so we wanted the stencils to look aged, and the finish on the walls to look like old parchment," says Charbonneau, owner of Fabrice, LLC.
The company used a traditional hand finish technique, known as full-finish, on the walls and ceilings. He introduced the technique, which has been used in France for hundreds of years, to Las Vegas 13 years ago, when he set up his company.
The stencil in the lobby was custom-cut for the home. Its design and darker beige color suggest a decorative feature that has been in place for many years, says Charbonneau.
Altogether, the paint finishing and stenciling took four weeks to complete.
