Contemporary kitchen with suspended island, warm-toned cabinetry and industrial accents

Designed by Diego Revollo
From the architect:
Innovation defines this kitchen designed for a young bachelor, living in a penthouse apartment.
Flying high and far from traditional kitchens, the island here, almost 4.5m long, hangs above the floor.

Suspended at its ends by black metallic structures, the white block faces the social area, its hanging nature allowing the entire kitchen floor to remain visible. And this sense of space is visually incorporated into the social area.
The now light and wide kitchen is complemented by the line of cabinets in mustard colour and, on the side, by the massive slatted block in South American Tauari wood.
While the mustard colour, set in contrast to the black top, gives personality to the design, the honey-coloured wood with its natural texture delineates the entrance area of the apartment and ensures warmth by contrasting the smooth and metallic surfaces.

The kitchen confers an almost industrial language, while avoiding including any overtly industrial-look features. The burnt cement on the floor and some walls reflects the natural light and gently reinforces the simplicity of the materials chosen. The prominent concrete surfaces unify and enhance the kitchen's luminosity, which was one of the aims for this kitchen.
