The outdoor living areas of the Whitford house are just as well equipped for entertaining as the inside. And central to the design is a large infinity pool, which was built by Advanced Pools & Spa.

Director Bruce Bothwell says the 10.5m x 5m pool has a sprayed-concrete construction with black Quartzone walls that give the pool a tranquil, reflective quality. The decorative pebble bottom features river stone from Hawke's Bay.

"The pool is also equipped with underwater lighting and is heated by solar roofing panels. The Quartzone, lighting and filtration system were supplied by Austral Distributors."

Bothwell says Advanced Pools specialises in top-of-the-line concrete pools, which can be built to any size and shape. The company, which has been in operation for 40 years, has undertaken many high-end projects for commercial developments, including resort hotels and apartment complexes.

"At the same time, however, we also undertake residential projects on a much smaller scale."

Although based in Auckland, the company works on projects throughout the North Island.
