For a high-end project like Jade, finding a flexible and experienced labour force was essential to keep construction on track and to standard.

Many of the experienced and skilled construction workers were supplied by National Staffing Services, a Brisbane-based company. The company supplied up to 20 workers at the height of the project, including labourers, carpenters, scaffolders, traffic controllers and the site's workplace health and safety officer.

All employees received occupational health and safety induction training before starting work on the project. They then reported to Bezzina's foremen and worked alongside Bezzina's own construction crew and specialist trade crews.

The key was finding the right calibre of skilled people, all with the relevant tickets of currency, says the owner of National Staffing Services, Diane Lack.

"As a company, we have over 50 years' combined industry experience recruiting skilled labour. Through our industry contacts and knowledge we were able to supply skilled labourers who had experience of working on high-rise, luxury apartments such as the Jade project many of whom have been employed by us for several years," she says.
