Clearly appealing
Offices and commercial spaces are opened up with glass products available from Metro Glasstech
Glass is a popular and effective means for architects and designers to create open offices and workspaces. Improved technology and production techniques have also allowed glass to be applied in an increasing variety of situations, from internal walls to floors and stair treads.
Aside from being versatile, the popularity of glass as a design solution stems from the technology it enables, says Pat Harrison, branch manager at Metro Glasstech.
Energy efficiency and demands for larger, sturdier sheets are driving further development of glass products and its applications, he says.
"Double glazed and high-performance glass types are being specified more regularly as companies and consumers become aware of energy-saving practices and are actively seeking out these types of products.
"We are also focused on future industry developments to ensure that what can be produced overseas can be replicated here in New Zealand."
The company has positioned itself to take advantage of the changing global market by having invested heavily in plant machinery and training of company staff, he says.
Metro Glasstech processes and supplies glass to the building industry nationwide and is the largest independent glass merchant in New Zealand.
