With improvements in house design and building materials, most homes today are well insulated against drafts, resulting in lower heating and cooling costs.

However, as well as reducing energy costs, these airtight homes also trap undesirable indoor air containing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and allow moisture to collect in bathrooms.

Accumulated moisture in the bathroom causes mold to grow and eventually leads to structural damage. VOCs, found in everyday products such as hairsprays, paints, lacquers, carpets and furniture, can cause people to develop headaches, dizziness or nausea, and can even damage the immune system.

Panasonic's WhisperGreen¢ series of ventilation fans are quiet, energy-efficient and effectively remove unwanted moisture and pollutants from the air. Some models feature the SmartAction® Motion Sensor, an innovative sensor system with an adjustable delay timer that programs the fan to run at 80cu ft/minute even after a person leaves the bathroom. The sensor can be programmed by the homeowner to turn off between 30 seconds and 60 minutes later without having to flip a switch.
