Clean and green
From the washing-up to the laundry chores Fisher & Paykel appliances are kind to your family and the environment
When it comes to specifying a new appliance, environmental sustainability is a key consideration for many homeowners today. So it's probably not surprising to see that a commitment to energy efficiency is an integral part of the company culture at Fisher & Paykel Appliances.
This commitment is reflected in the company's line-up of new Energy Star®-rated laundry appliances. Sales and marketing vice-president Laurence Mawhinney says Fisher & Paykel's AquaSmart®, IntuitiveEco¢ and EcoSmart¢ washers all exceed Department of Energy standards for energy efficiency, and are eligible for the utility rebates prevalent throughout the United States.
"The AquaSmart washer exceeds the minimum water standard by 25%, and the minimum energy standard by 71%," he says. "In addition to its Energy Star rating, this washer also meets the tough Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) criteria for Tier 2 efficiency.
"The AquaSmart washer saves energy, water and time, and there is no performance compromise. Unlike most top-loading washers, this model offers both a traditional wash mode and a high-efficiency mode, providing the best of both worlds."
The AquaSmart is paired with the Fisher & Paykel AeroSmart large-capacity top-loading dryer. Special features of this dryer include reverse tumbling, automatic lint removal, and a moisture sensing system that eliminates the guesswork in timing. In addition, the AeroSmart's top-loading design is ergonomic and easy to use.
Fisher & Paykel's Double DishDrawer® is another energy-saving, ergonomic appliance that minimizes consumption of water, energy and detergent. The DishDrawer allows you to use an economical, guilt-free small load. This setting uses as little as 1.98 gallons of water, compared with an average 3.96 gallons for normal cycles.
Other sustainable initiatives from Fisher & Paykel include the increased use of plastics and polycarbonates, which can be fully recycled. The metal bowls in the laundry appliances can also be recycled.
"In addition, packaging is either re-used or recycled, which eliminates waste and reduces the amount of packaging that is dumped in landfill," says Mawhinney.
Minimizing the carbon footprint is another focus for the company. As a result, all Fisher & Paykel appliances available in the United States are manufactured in Ohio. An on-line manufacturing operation also ensures there is less waste and less inventory.
