Careful attention to detail
To enhance the high-end design of this home, the kitchen features Smeg Piano Series appliances
While your appliance selection should reflect the styling of your kitchen, it also needs to cater to the practical needs of your household.
This was something David Reid Homes kept in mind when designing and building the four-bedroom Highlander showhome in Nelson, pictured here.
This house is designed to appeal to executive families, says Sue Hopkins from David Reid Homes. Featuring materials such as schist and cedar, it has a spacious open-plan kitchen and living area.
Kitchen designer Suzi Matz contrasted white Corian benchtops with aubergine-toned, high-gloss lacquer cabinets. Glass splashbacks behind the cooktop and on the outside of the island enhance the kitchen's sleek, contemporary design.
To complement these high-end finishes and to meet the expectations of potential buyers, Matz chose appliances from the understated Smeg Piano Series.
"Smeg has a high profile both locally and overseas," says Hopkins. "The Piano Series, in particular, is characterised by careful attention to design detail and the latest technology. These high standards are reflected throughout this house."
Beneath the benchtop on the kitchen's rear wall are side-by-side 60cm multi-function Smeg Piano Series ovens. These allow for the simultaneous cooking of multiple courses when entertaining. The F170 has 10 cooking functions, while the F166 offers six. Each features removable triple-glazed doors, a heat-reflective inner layer and catalytic liners.
Above the ovens is a 100cm-wide, six-burner gas cooktop. Pressed from a single sheet of polished stainless steel, the easy to clean hob has a range of different sized burners, including two rapid burners.
