Bold learning environment
Watts & Hughes has recently completed the company's latest design & build – the bold new Mangapikopiko School campus, for the Ministry of Education.
Mangapikopiko School exemplifies the latest principles of Innovative Learning Environment planning with a variety of purposeful and dynamic internal and external learning settings.
Close collaboration from the outset
Close collaboration between the client, architecture firm Jasmax, and Watts & Hughes' wider consultant team right from the project's outset ensured the leading construction company captured all design elements necessary and delivered the final built outcome that the school and Ministry of Education required.

Optimising sustainability
The buildings deliver lower operating costs for the school with the use of passive ventilation & cooling, rainwater harvesting – as well as sending the right message to students and saving the school money, these green initiatives bring the wider benefit of reduced demand on local infrastructure.
In addition, the very latest materials were used to construct the school, thereby ensuring long-term durability and, again, lower energy use.
Leading light
The high quality of the new school sets a precedent for the residential development which follows on in the surrounding suburbs.
In a word – "excellent"
Ministry of Education delivery manager David Stokes says Watts & Hughes was great to work with in delivering Mangapikopiko School.
"The project ran smoothly and efficiently from start to finish and the quality of workmanship is excellent – it’s great to see the final result and students are loving their new school.”
Exceptional construction over a variety of disciplines
With over 34 years construction experience in New Zealand, Watts & Hughes offers a range of construction management services across a broad spectrum of construction sectors – including civil, industrial, recreational, retail, commercial, residential, educational, marinas, government infrastructure, medical/health care and sub-divisions.
Many of these were high-profile large scale projects that might daunt a less experienced constructor.
Watts & Hughes' construction services range from general construction services to more specified options like seismic upgrades and design/build packages.
Operating nation-wide, the company also caters to pre-construction requirements and provides expert project management.
