Borrmeister Architects – Winner – TIDA New Zealand Architect New Home of the Year
Congratulations to Borrmeister Architects
Located on a tiny steep hillside section, this modern family home has been designed to connect the openness of Sumner beach with the bush covered slope of Scarborough Hill.
In order to tackle this extremely difficult site, the house was designed using a strict 1.2m grid, resulting in a very simple rectangular footprint, stretching over three levels.
Large decks connect the house with a swimming pool, an outdoor shower, a vegetable garden, a grandstand-like seating area and to a council park up the hill.

The TIDA judges were impressed with the way this home sits so snugly into the site while overcoming its challenges, and also makes the most of exceptional views in both directions.
Congratulations to Borrmeister Architects – winner of the 2019 TIDA New Zealand Architect-designed New Home
