An outdoor pool is something that enhances most homes, but for lasting appeal it needs to follow the contours and scale of the landscape. That was the situation facing the owners of this custom-built pool. They already had a pool, but it was too small for their lifestyle plot and the layout was complex and dated.Landscape design company Interscape was commissioned to totally overhaul the site. The new design includes a tennis court and new planting including a planted roof on the pool's plant room. For the pool itself, which was created and installed by Pleasure Pools, a clean, symmetrical design was chosen. Its generous dimensions suit the large site. A view of a swimming pool by Pleasure Pools. An infinity edge at one side of the pool was included. According to Pleasure Pools' John Binns, this was done so that the family could enjoy an uninterrupted view of the landscape as it slopes away from the house towards the river."Our pools are custom-built for each particular site," says Binns. "For this project, we specified a large step-out shallow area with a porcelain-tiled wall so that pool users could have privacy from other family members in the house."Lights inset into a glass brick strip in the wall alter the pool's ambience at night.
