A kitchen is a big investment for most homeowners. It is also a part of the house that we spend a lot of time in, so it's worth ensuring the designer and cabinetmaker are both of a high calibre.

The kitchen in this new home was built and installed by RH Cabinetmakers to the architect's specifications. The cabinetry is made from prefinished chalked oak, and the bookshelves in the adjoining living area are made from tasi ash with a satin lacquered finish. Lift-up doors above the cooktop are lacquered in white.

An anodised aluminium profile recessed into the tops of the cabinetry forms the drawer handles and helps to give the kitchen a clean-lined look.

To ensure all drawers open and close smoothly and quietly, they are fitted with top-of-the-line Blum Tandem Box soft-close runners, while the lift-up doors over the cooktop feature Aventos hardware. He¤fele opening pocket doors give convenient access into the pantry, and RH Cabinetmakers installed an extra drawer into the toekick beneath the cooktop to provide extra storage.
