When embarking on a home building project, it's helpful to know the different building products your architect, designer or builder suggests are fit for the purpose.

BRANZ has an appraisal team that is dedicated to evaluating products and systems according to the specific requirements of the New Zealand Building Code.

Russell Clarke of BRANZ says the team appraises potentially high-risk products and systems, including external cladding, waterproofing membranes and roofing materials, and products such as wallboard systems that are used on the interior of the house.

"For many categories of appraised building products, there may have been performance concerns in the past. A BRANZ Appraisal assures customers that products or systems have been rigorously tested to check they meet the required standard," says Clarke.

You can view BRANZ Appraisals on the BRANZ website, searching by number (if known), product type or company name. These appraisals can easily be downloaded in full, free of charge.
