All up front fixed price for new homes

Hidden costs are the last thing you need when you are building. But how do you avoid provisional costs, or PCs as they are known in the industry?

The answer lies with the company you choose for your new home project. The firm behind the house shown on these pages, Generation Homes, has a distinct point of difference it guarantees a fixed price for your home, and a build time of just 14 weeks for a single-level home and 18 weeks for a two-storey house.

Dave Andrew, Generation Homes national marketing manager, says there are no PCs at any stage of the contract.

"Everything is covered, from start to finish, including any excavation required, consents and reports. And because we are in the business of building communities, we also provide a full package. This means that the house comes complete with carpets and blinds, a letterbox, TV aerial and landscaping.

"We don't want clients or neighbours living in a dust bowl because there are no funds for driveways and landscaping."

Andrew says the Generation Homes support office is in Tauranga, but the company has joint venture partners throughout New Zealand, including four in Auckland. The house shown here was built for a client in Wattle Cove, Manukau, and is right next to a Generation Homes show home.

"We find it helps clients envisage what they want for their own home," Andrew says. "We can then create a custom version to meet their exact requirements."
