Merging two units to create a single upscale apartment is a substantial undertaking on many levels from fiscal to physical. It's only to be expected that the resulting interiors would receive a high-end treatment.Design Elements, with interior designer and owner Lisa Bada at the helm, took on the project. Walls had to be removed and volumes realigned to accentuate the 360Ë views of the Strip and bring them into the space, says Bada."In addition, the new design needed to create two areas of use one for family and the other for business. All work had to factor in the constraints of immovable essential services, such as plumbing. "The overall look of the finished apartment is warm yet sleek and contemporary, achieved through choices of materials and furniture."Bada designed several custom elements for the project including sofas, tables and desks as well as lighting, wall panels and some beds. Material selections included glass and stainless steel tiles, marble countertops and white slab onyx in the great room and bar area. Fabric wall treatments add a touch of warmth. In the bedrooms, purple, cream and brown tones are used in conjunction with the fabric wall treatments to bring a sense of pampering and comfort to these private spaces. "One tricky aspect was creating effective lighting in the context of a concrete ceiling. We achieved this in the hall and great room by using glass-topped circular soffits with LED lights inside. In the kitchen we created a feature red ceiling with back-lit colored glass," Bada says. For more details, contact Lisa Bada at Design Elements, 7345 S Durango Dr, Suite B107-213 Las Vegas, NV 89113, phone (702) 979 9567.
