"The side of the property dropped away significantly. This meant that the pool required concrete piles at its base to provide stability," he says. "We also built a lower deck where we could position the pool cover, so that the view over the pool was not blocked."
The pool itself is finished in Steel Blue, and has an ozone water treatment system. There is also a heat pump that extends the swimming season. LED lights are another feature of the pool. The colour of the lights can be changed at the touch of a button.
Rowley says the pool forms part of a wider landscape, with a timber staircase leading down to a timber boardwalk that circles the lower hillside. This eventually ends at a private gazebo that affords views of the ocean and island.
Mayfair Pools specialises in custom-built fibreglass pools that can be manufactured to any size and shape. Rowley says contemporary poolscapes often incorporate spa pools, innovative fibreoptic lighting and special water features, such as sheer descent waterfalls or stepping stones.
The company, which has been in business for more than 35 years, has a network of agents throughout the country.
