A sound footing - MOTAT Aviation Hall polished concrete floors by HTC Superfloors and Solid Floors

One part aircraft hangar, one part upmarket showroom, the MOTAT Aviation Display Hall required a floor that would be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. However, with the build deadline pressing, Solid Floors provided a solution that exceeded all expectations.

Business development manager Scott McBreen says Solid Floors solved a problem the project faced with a tight construction timeline.

"The new post-tensioned slab 40MPa was going to take a long time to dry and the coat of clear seal specified could not be installed to deadline. Solid Floors was asked for an alternative option and we put forward HTC Superfloor¢ as a viable, preferable solution."

HTC Superfloor is a complete concept for polishing concrete. The first step in the process mechanically refines the concrete surface by removing the top cement paste to expose the stronger concrete underneath. The concrete is then ground and polished with HTC's dedicated machines and diamond tools anywhere from six to ten processes are involved. The outcome is a floor with a completely flat surface which is ecologically sound, offers a long life with minimal maintenance and is light, bright, quiet and easy to clean.
