3 storage tips for your bathroom

Hair dryers, toilet paper, soap, shampoo and towels. No room in the house quite matches the bathroom for cramming so many small objects into such a small space.

Here are three storage tips to consider for your next project.

Floating counters

Keep tripping over the bathroom scales? Raise your counter above the floor, and you’ll suddenly find a place to store those pesky scales, extra toilet paper and possibly even cleaning products. There’s a bonus here, too. Floating counters make bathrooms feel much larger than they actually are.

Shower nooks

Often only feasible with custom showers, a shower nook is basically a shelf within the shower. It means you’ll have a place to store bottles, razors and anything else you’re prone to stepping on in the shower itself.

While not essential, you can also use the nook as a place to introduce lighting. Recessed LEDs can add a stand-out element to your bathroom and make the space brighter and more inviting.

Note that, in most cases, you’ll need to allow for a nook from the very start of the design process.

Get creative with shelving

Ah, the venerable shelf. Where would we be without you? In the bathroom, good shelving is an absolute necessity.

Consider other places to install shelves in your bathroom. For example, a shelf above the bathroom door (on the inside!) can give you valuable extra space that’s also out of the way.

Glueable glass shelves are a great option for tiled walls, being easy to install – and remove.
