Bonham Architecture & Interiors – Auckland
Individually, each of the elements in this impressive ensuite for two makes a bold statement, yet their carefully considered curation results in a cohesive design statement.
In addition to ensuring good functionality, the finishes, fixtures and accessories were selected to reflect the coastal location of the home and to give it a luxurious international style.
Judges' comments:
This bathroom stands out for its simplicity and originality. Nothing is overdone in the design.
Curved elements a such as the cabinetry, mirrors and bath add a softness to the overall look, while the brass sculpture above the above provides a strong focal point.
Minimal, but interesting.

Ultraspace – Queensland
This spacious master suite with interconnecting ensuite and walk-in robe is all the more remarkable for being part of an extensive renovation of a beach house on a remote island with limited access.
While having to be mindful of existing plumbing, the redesign has pushed the limits of possibilities in its new layout.
An exceptionally high level of design and detailing is seen throughout the entire suite.
Judges' comments:
The level of detail is nothing short of amazing – everything has been thought about.
The designer has achieve a form of simplicity with a huge amount of complexities.

TIDA International Powder Room of the Year
Nicola Ross Design – Foxton, New Zealand
With its effect on light playing across the surface, the powder room's battening adds a vertical dimension to an otherwise dark space.
An oak battened screen providing privacy for the toilet area reaffirms this lineal element.
On the wall, an Asian-inspired mural adds a playful and colourful element to the design, while giving the sense of being in a spa retreat.
Judges' comments:
Moody and dramatic – ideal for a powder room.
Keeping the general wall tones dark has allowed the wall mural to be the absolute hero in this room.
Curved elements add interesting contrast.
A perfect balance of material and textures!

TIDA International Bathroom of the Year
Halo Design Interiors – London
This master suite was created from what was previously a kitchen and dining room in a Grade II listed property in Belgravia.
Opening up the ceilings revealed historic cornicing which was carefully restored and given a bespoke bronze/gold finish.
The palette was kept deliberately light and airy, with the stone flooring blending with the colour of the panelled walls and delicately curved vanity unit.
Judges' comments:
Opulence, grandeur, luxury, are just some of the words that best describe this bathroom.
Everything from the vanity detailing, pendant, fixtures & fittings, marble wall are individually stunning and work in this type of design aesthetic.
Classically modern with beautiful architectural details.

Archertec Interiors – Canberra
There was space for a deep wall to house a fireplace, making it a strong feature of both the bedroom and bathroom in this master suite.
Setting the tub on an angle helped balance and fill out the large floor space in that part of the room.

Bonham Architecture & Interiors – Auckland
This bathroom explores the edges of style within a limited budget, offering comfort, functionality and purpose as per brief – delivering a home of original style.
As part of the coastal home's major renovation, the master suite floor plan was reconfigured to allow a luxury His and Hers spaces.
Carefully selected natural stones are configured into a geometric story, flowing from entry along the floor into the His & Hers shower which is situated along the full width of the back wall.

Callidus Architects – Wellington
Two bathrooms and a powder room are reinvented for a fresh, understated look and to make the most of their quirky windows on Wellington Harbour.
Custom made vanities and shelving with careful selection of design features resulted in very pleasant spaces to both bathe and take in the stunning bush and view of the site.

Eolo Architecture + Interiors – Miami
Inside darkness throughout Despite the sweeping ocean views available to this penthouse condo, intricate interior partitions resulted in dark interiors that countered the owners wishes to have a spa experience in their master bathroom.
Combining the original closet and bathroom into one large space by removing the original closet wall, meant the window now floods the area with natural light.
Cabinets throughout feature recycled wood and the plumbing fixtures have a sophisticated matte gold finish.
A custom designed combination mirror/chandelierfloats apparently weightless over the island in the middle of the space, acting as a sculptural but functional piece.

Kister Architects – Melbourne
The powder room sits in the triangular junction between the home’s public and private zones overlooking a central courtyard.
Timber cladding cleverly conceals the powder room, together with a cloak room and laundry/mud space.
Inside,light floods in from a skylight that spans the basin and toilet, creating ever-changing hues on the green/brown glazed tiles and gold wallpaper.

Rieck Building Design – Wolumla, NSW
The main challenge for the renovation was that the existing ensuite was on a suspended concrete slab. So the designer had to work within the original space and retain the external windows and doors.
A small change to the entrance of the bedroom allowed for better connection to the ensuite and walk-in-robe.
A custom wall-hung, double vanity occupies the ensuite’s prime position, with its striking black timber veneer highlighting the dark vein in the Quartz benchtop.

SAAJ – Melbourne
Curved walls and ceilings seamlessly draw you through the main bedroom and ensuite in this coastal property, enhancing the overall suite experience.
A timber-lined curved sauna sits right next to the shower enclosure. From both the shower and sauna, the owners can enjoy a distant view to the bay, while still having privacy from neighbouring properties.
The bath alcove is designed like an intimate alcove – a space that might have been seen by some as unusable, has both sculptural and inviting qualities.

Younique Designs – San Antonio
The owners enjoy traveling and staying in luxury hotels and desired to have that same experience while at home.
Among the items on their wish list were a shower big enough for two, a freestanding tub and separate vanities.
In order to make all of these dreams come true, space from a storage closet in the garage was 'borrowed' to grow the footprint of the bathroom.
