While the colour scheme and materials you choose for your new bathroom are important visually, it's the bathroomware that will impact most on your day-to-day living.

Kohler has long recognised that true bathroom luxury can be measured by the quality and design of the fixtures and fittings. Consequently, the company is constantly developing new products that mix innovative design with ease of use and longevity.

The latest such product is the new Kohler Flipside showerhead, which can be rotated to provide four different spray patterns. Whether you fancy an invigorating massaging spray or a soft, enveloping rainshower, the Flipside makes it all possible there is even a setting that sprays water in an intense circular pattern to create a sense of wellbeing.

Michael Reid, the Kohler Design Centre manager, says the four spray patterns Koverage, Kotton, Komotion and Kurrent soothe, relax, invigorate and clean in their own particular ways. Changing from one spray to another is simply a matter of turning the head 90° and depressing the edge of the showerhead.

"The Flipside is literally turning showering on its head," Reid says. "The showerhead features Flipstream¢ technology, which ensures full water pressure in each spray setting. It also allows adjustable spray angles for people of different heights."

Reid says the Flipside is designed to be easy to use for people of all ages, including those with limited mobility.

The Flipside is available in a contemporary geometric design as well as a bold black-handled design. A vibrant polished chrome finish is another option.

New Kohler tapware is also transforming bathrooms. The company recently introduced the July single-lever basin mixer and shower mixer range. Two different handle options are available for the mixers, which are made from solid brass.

"These mixers feature the Gilamid LV-5H WA cartridge seat, which is a polyamide plastic that is especially robust and versatile," says Reid. "This cartridge also has the benefit of reducing the level of metallic material that is exposed to drinking water."

The new collections can be viewed at Mico Bathroom stores, and at the new Kohler Design Centre in Parnell Rise, Auckland the largest Kohler showroom in Australasia. Here you can see Kohler products in real-life settings.

"The Kohler Design Centre presents inspiring bathroom displays that are particularly helpful if you are building a new home or planning a renovation," says Reid. "The products are all displayed in suites, with working models. The interactive nature of the display means you can trial many of the products before making any decisions."

Reid says there are Kohler consultants on hand to help you select and refine your product choices.

"Our consultants create a personalised portfolio of products for each client they know exactly which products work well together, and can ensure your bathroom is just how you want it."
