To provide a low-maintenance cladding with the look of traditional weatherboards, the owners of this country house opted for Palliside
Planning a new home project is always a big undertaking it's even more of an adventure when the house is 700m² and you are building it yourself.
For Angelei and Ken McSkimming, plenty of research and careful planning helped ensure their project went ahead as planned. A crucial element was the cladding selection the couple were determined to have a low-maintenance home that would never need painting.
Angelei McSkimming says Palliside cladding proved an ideal choice for a number of reasons. As well as being a strong, durable cladding, Palliside Rusticated weatherboards in Vanilla Cream provided the character they wanted.
"The cladding replicates the look of timber weatherboards," she says. "It also complements the traditional architectural features, such as the bullnose veranda, gabled roof and sash windows."
The McSkimmings say the Palliside was custom manufactured in 8m lengths to provide a seamless finish. The extra-wide, non-standard PVC trim and accessories were imported from the United States.
The couple also say they particularly appreciated the cladding's ease of installation, and the valuable help they received from the manufacturers.
