The Vincent Van Gogh Foundation is the result of a complete renovation and extension of a formerly private fifteenth-century mansion in Arles, a city in the south of France.Fluor Architecture organised the project around a major character both on the site and in the work of Van Gogh: the famous light of Arles. The Dutch master’s works are absent from the collection, but his spirit is very present in the natural daylight which filters in through several skylight openings and the coloured glass sculpture on the roof of the bookshop by artist Raphael Hefti.
