Davinia Sutton wins 2021 TIDA New Zealand Designer Bathroom of the Year

This boldly designed ensuite bathroom sits centre stage in the master wing of  a contemporary new home.

The large allocated space allowed the designer to extend the concept of providing ‘his and her’ facilities beyond the usual double basin vanity.

Here, there’s essentially ‘his and her’ bathrooms – each with its own entrance, vanity and toilet – separated by a large central double shower zone at the core of the room.

Designed as pieces of furniture, the vanities have a textural veneer finish, marble tops and hand-painted, relief vanity bowls.

The judges felt that the selection of materials throughout the highly functional space created a dark and moody atmosphere, while meeting the owners’ request of a modern design approach with a sense of elegance.
