7 suite connections to inspire
There are great bathrooms, great bedrooms and then great connections between the two – here are some inspiring examples
The way your spaces connect can inject as much personality into your home as the bedrooms and bathrooms themselves.
Their manner of connecting can also solve a few design conundrums along the way.
1. Sliding doors

In terms of general aesthetics, the idea was to give the whole space an industrial atmosphere, maintaining and recovering the building's original materials.
A large sliding glass door gives access to the suite with dressing room, bedroom and bathroom area all located in the same room.
The shower and toilet, overlooking the courtyard, are closed with the same sliding glass – when one is open, the other remains closed.
2. Same air, same ocean

The home's sweeping stucco curves echo the rhythm of ocean waves and suggest the form of large sails.
And this airy, white master suite is on board with that thinking – the large, open connection between master bedroom and master ensuite ensures broad sea views are to the fore wherever you are standing.
3. When a set back is no set back

Ocean views can be enjoyed from different angles in this oceanside home.
One innovative example is the inclusion of a feature picture window looking through from the ensuite’s wet areas into the seafront master bedroom – and of course the water views beyond that.
4. Subtle demarcation

In this design, only a low vanity divides off the bedroom from the bathroom, beyond which is the dressing area – the greater reward is a grand sense of spaciousness for the entire master suite.
While co-joined bedroom and bathroom have a very open connection to the exterior, motorised shades can be lowered from the ceiling to provide privacy asa desired.
5. Part of the woodwork
McMahon and Nerlich
To make the existing layout work better for this new bedroom/ensuite, a freestanding, timber-lined bedhead was introduced.
As well as providing a privacy screen, the bedhead incorporates additional storage and a built-in dressing table.
This allowed the space needed for the walk-in robe and ensuite to be reduced just enough for them to be tucked into the existing fabric of the house.
6. Life's a journey

From the master bedroom with its tranquil, earthy soft tones through the walk-through wardrobe of His and Hers sides with accents of bronze panels to the new ensuite at the end of the journey.
7. Invisible divide
Sonja McAuliffe, Archertec Interiors
A large custom sliding door comes into play between the master bedroom and ensuite brings privacy when needed.
Meanwhile, the warm, contemporary cabinetry choice for both rooms helps draw them together visually.
