Built by Fowler Homes, the U-shaped, four- bedroom home wraps around a central courtyard and was perfect for the beautiful if exposed setting, says the managing director of Fowler Homes Auckland South, Bret Robinson.

“The owner has a building maintenance company and so naturally had extremely high standards right from the outset – which is why he came to us,” says Robinson. “Fowler Homes has a reputation for quality and detail.”

Most clients choose to use Fowler Homes’ comprehensive design service. Here, however, the owner provided his own plans and had clear ideas of what he wanted in certain areas. In fact, he supplied the kitchen and bathroom fittings, the tiling and timber flooring.

Fowler Homes incorporated these elements and created an open, flowing family home. The intelligent layout includes a long circulation corridor, three living spaces, an office and a dedicated laundry that opens to the outdoors.

Other touches include a gable roofline that translates into a 2.7m-high tongue-and-groove ceiling in the living wing. The asphalt shingle roof is matched with bevel back weatherboard.
