The finer battening to the powder room walls takes on a new appeal, with its effect on the light play across the surface giving vertical dimension to an otherwise dark space. The oak battened screen reaffirms the lineal element. The inclusion of the wall mural adds a playful element. The powder room is used predominately by guests to the home on the ground floor – being the only public bathroom on the ground floor it is used by anyone within the home. It is situated off the foyer and just down from the living areas. This project is home to a married couple with adult children. They have a large, close family and lots of friends. They love to entertain, with good food, music and drinks. As it is a powder room, generally, it is only used by one person at a time. However, given its size and location it also is a good spot to check yourself in the mirror before popping back out to the living areas.
